The League of Women Voters of Needham Presents a Blanche Ames Exhibit at the Needham Public Library for Women’s History Month

From the League of Women Voters of Needham’s website:

Blanche Ames  (1878-1969) was a Massachusetts artist, political activist, inventor, writer, and prominent supporter of women’s suffrage and birth control. In 1915 she created a series of political cartoons supporting “Votes for Women.” The cartoons were published on the front pages of the Woman’s Journal and in the Boston Transcript. The cartoons will be on display at the Needham Public Library for the month of March—Women’s History Month. The League of Women Voters of Needham prepared the exhibit in commemoration of the 100thAnniversary of the 19th Amendment to the US Constitution, granting voting rights for women.
