June 11th: Newton Police Training Drill on Wells Avenue

In case you live near the Needham/Newton line, OR, if you need to go near the Wells Avenue, Newton area on June 11th, below is some information to help with your morning travel plans.

From the Newton website:

On Saturday 6/11, the Newton Police Department and Newton Fire Department will be hosting an active shooter training at Newton-Wellesley Hospital’s Ambulatory Care Center at 159 Wells Ave. Activity for the drill will begin at 7:30am and conclude around 1pm.

Although this is a drill, it will sound very realistic. There will be sirens, fire alarms, and police officers will be firing blanks, which sound the same as gunshots. There will be a lot of activity and traffic in the area due to the number of partners participating in the drill and partial road closures.

Please do not be alarmed as this is a scheduled training drill.
